I have this on cdr and love it. Was it ever officially released on cd? I have the Teenage Neon cd, but it's just not the same. [img]wink.gif[/img] Anybody?

I’ve only got a copy of Whatever Happened to Fun. It was definitely released though, and you’re right it’s a great album.

Did you realise that two members of Candy then formed the Electric Angels (one of my favourite albums ever), who then became the Loveless. All three have a lot in common – sort of dark glam about life’s problems. Bit depressing if you’re in the wrong mood, but I love it.

Yeah, I knew all that about them, with the bands they formed. I just don't know if the Candy album was released on cd or if it would be pointless to keep my eyes open for it.

btw, check this site for an interview with Jonathan Daniel (primary songwriter and bassist for all three bands). Done quite recently by some hack who writes for glitzine. [img]tongue.gif[/img] lmao

This question is one that I'm surprised you didn't ask Jonthan when you interviewed him! The answer is no, it was not ever released on cd...

If you look at the back of the vinyl cover, it gives Polygram catalog numbers for the cd and says "Also available on cd and cassette." However, according to both Jonathan and Kyle, due to cd's being very new technology at that point, it was only actually going to be released on cd IF it was selling well, and since it sold very poorly, they stopped at vinyl and cassette.

Don't bother looking for it [img]smile.gif[/img] However, the rights to the album were purchased from Mercury Records in 1995 or 1996, and at some point, it will probably be reissued.

Yes, I did enjoy the interview. After reading it, I email Jonathan and gave him a hard time about having so much to say in the interview when he so frequently has almost nothing to say. The big questions I had for him were about some unreleased songs from Electric Angels and Candy that I have on live recordings. I just wanted to know what, if any, of the songs were written by him, and whether or not any of them were ever demoed. It was relatively anti-climatic because only two of the seven songs I asked about were written by him, and none of the seven was ever demoed. I was hoping against hope that I might be able to pry some stuff from him, but no such luck. Almost a decade ago he sent me a 100 minute tape full of unreleased songs he had written. I was just hoping he might have some more, but he says he doesn't.

He has confirmed for me though that there's one more unreleased Loveless demo that has never circulated, and a Gilby Clarke on vocals version of "True Love and Other Fairy Tales." He claims, however, that he still has stuff in storage in LA, and that both of these things are there...
